Enhancing Cold Storage Efficiency with Specialized Mobile Racking Systems
In modern cold chain logistics, maximizing storage density while maintaining operational accessibility is a critical challenge. A recent project involving a 600-square-meter cold storage facility demonstrates how the implementation of a specialized mobile racking system can significantly improve warehouse utilization without compromising safety or reliability.

Tailored Racking Configuration
The facility adopted a tailored mobile racking solution designed specifically for low-temperature environments. The installation began with pre-embedded rails laid across the floor, forming the foundation for high-density mobile storage. Static racking was deployed along the perimeter walls to utilize fixed space efficiently, while three rows of mobile racks were installed in the central area. All racking systems share a single 4-meter-wide access aisle, a layout that dramatically reduces the number of fixed aisles and reclaims valuable floor space for storage.
A notable challenge in this layout was the presence of large supporting columns in the middle of the warehouse. To address this, the system integrates parallel movement technology, enabling the mobile racks to operate in a coordinated manner. This ensures that the columns do not obstruct movement or reduce usable space. The racks are capable of single-column or multi-column movement, providing flexible access to stored goods while maintaining high storage density.

Flexible Operation and Reliable Performance
To ensure reliable operation under freezing conditions, the control system is designed with cold-tolerant components. The main control cabinet is installed outside the cold room, protecting sensitive electronics from extreme temperatures, while internal modules are rated for low-temperature performance. This separation enhances system durability and simplifies maintenance.
Overall, this mobile racking solution not only optimizes space utilization through shared-aisle design and intelligent movement control but also ensures long-term operational stability in demanding cold storage environments. It stands as a practical and efficient answer to the growing need for high-density storage in the cold chain sector.
